LG 32UD59-B Monitor Review

LG 27UD59-B

The LG 32UD59-B is a 32-inch Ultra HD 4k monitor (3840×2160) that was first released in July 2017. At a reasonable price, among its impressive features is its outstanding display clarity.

Covering 95% of the DCI-P3 color space affords an exceptionally wide range of available colors.

First released in 2016, it is no longer manufactured, however, back-stocked models can still be found on the market. Currently, manufactured monitors of comparable quality and price by LG include the LG 27UL500-W.

Who’s It For?

Its excellent color reproduction and first-rate picture quality are great for both work and play. What we have here is an all-in-one package that will satisfy office and gaming users.

What We Like About LG 27UD59-B

The design of the monitor is quite good. There are no distracting reflections due to the simple matte black finish of the bezel around the monitor as well as the black brushed metal finish stand.

Gamers will appreciate the LG 32UD59-B’s AMD FreeSync Technology. That plus the 10ms average input lag makes this item a reliable gaming monitor.

It effectively reduces the tearing and stuttering that has been known to occur between a graphics card’s frame rate and a monitor’s refresh rate.

LG’s Black Stabilizer senses dark scenes and helps make it brighter. By maintaining visibility even in dark scenes, you can find the enemies hiding and waiting to attack your player even in the dark.

The On-Screen Control offers more advantages because it improves productivity. This feature allows the settings like volume, picture mode presets, brightness, Screen Split and Dual Control to be located in one convenient window.

That will give you easy access to quickly adjust settings as needed.

The OSC can be accessed via a multi-directional joystick. This eliminates the eternal clicking dilemma that monitor users typically face.

The freedom to customize your monitor layout for multitasking is made possible with the latest version of LG Screen Split 2.0. You can resize and display multiple windows at once.

This feature offers 14 options including four different picture-in-picture (PIP) choices. There is also included the option to turn off the power on LED.

You can find your perfect viewing angle with the height-adjustable display. The solid stand allows users to raise and lower the monitor as desired to provide the best possible view. The height adjustment does have a range of 150mm.

The monitor doesn’t angle too much and has limited ergonomic options for the back of the stand. The screen can rotate as you move it into place. Connectors include two HDMI ports and a standard display port.

What We Don’t Like About LG 27UD58-B

The stand is solid enough, but it can wobble if nudged. It tilts back slightly. Also, there is a narrow range of height adjustments and not enough rotation to use the screen in portrait mode.

The standard 60 Hz refresh rate might be a limitation to some gamers.

The LG 32UD59-B does include built-in speakers which are disappointing for a display of this size. Notwithstanding that it is an affordable monitor, it is unfortunate that the sound output is muffled which makes it unsuited for the monitor’s entertainment purpose.

  • Great native contrast with deep blacks
  • Solid colors are uniform
  • Excellent wide color gamut
  • Joystick menu control is helpful
  • Picture degrades when viewed from the side
  • Distracting screen reflections in a bright room

What’s Included?

Every LG 32UD59-B monitor is supplied with a CD/Card, stand body, stand base, and cable holder. Depending on the country the relevant AC-DC adapter that comes with every monitor will also include the necessary power cord, as well as an HDMI cable and display port cable.

It is recommended to use LG-certified accessories. Using generic cables may cause the screen not to display or there may be image noises.

Overview of Features

This monitor delivers accurate colors that remain consistent with four times the resolution of full HD thanks to the DCI-P3 95% Color Gamut. That meets the film industry standard.

HDCP 2.2 is compatible with the latest HDCP 2.2 copy protection. That means this product will display video from 4K streaming services, game consoles, and Ultra HD Blu-ray disc players.

The Dynamic Action Sync optimizes for gamers a fast-paced gaming experience. This feature will also minimize any input lag. That will give you a gameplay in RTS games that you can expect to be far more responsive.

The gaming enthusiast is ensured a seamless and fluid movement throughout any hi-res, heavy-duty games. Granted, the FreeSync range only plays between 40Hz to 60Hz, but in 4K gaming, that is where fluctuations will appear most likely.

The LG 32UD59-B’s slim cabinet makes it highly suitable for wall mounting. A small clip located on the back of the stand enables cable management and it can be mounted using a VESA 100×100 mount.

Review Summary

The build quality of the LG 32UD59-B is more than satisfactory. For approximately half a grand, the LG 32UD59-B is an excellent 4K monitor which measures up giving you excellent value.

If you are looking for a large-format display to multitask or for both PC and console gaming, then this monitor is your suitable solution. For the Xbox, One X, or the PS4 Pro users, the size of the screen makes it a perfect match for your needs, even though you will have to live without HDR compatibility and that is fair for an affordable display like this model.

Even though the LG 32UD59-B does not fulfill its promise of a 95% DCI-P3 gamut representation, the color accuracy, and excellent responsiveness are more than enough for its intended uses.

If what you are seeking is a reasonably priced, easy to own, 4K display that operates with a range of functions, you will not be disappointed with the LG 32UD59-B.
