Our Best Monitor for Eyes Reviews and Comparisons

1. Samsung U28E590D Monitor

Product Highlights

Samsung U28E590D is a 228-inch high-spec monitor featuring the brand’s proprietary Eye Saver Mode monitor settings.

Eye Saver Mode is designed to reduce blue light emissions and flicker, to mitigate eye strain and other damage.

With a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a 1 millisecond response time, this UHD monitor has 4K ultra-high-resolution with 8 million pixels. This is enhanced by AMD FreeSync compatibility, to further keep your eyes protected during extended use.

Samsung U28E590D features more than 1 billion colors for crisp, sharp, and clear images and videos. Lag-free and smooth graphics are improved by the good quality console gaming glasses that are included. Such performance also benefits your eyes.

Features

  • Screen Size: 28”
  • Resolution: 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 pixels
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Refresh Rate: 60 hertz
  • Response Time: 1ms
  • Connectivity: HDMI, DisplayPort
  • Eye Care Features: Eye Saver Mode

What We Like About Samsung U28E590D Monitor

Eye Saver Mode is a proprietary technology developed by Samsung, that reduces blue light emissions, and flickers at the touch of a button.

AMD FreeSync and 1ms response time minimizes input latency and dramatically reduces image tearing and stutter during gaming. It supports 4k resolutions with a 16:9 aspect ratio and has a flat LED monitor and has a TN type display.

An attractive T-shaped stand allows the screen to be tilted 20-degree forward and 2-degree backward for more comfortable viewing.

All these features optimize your viewing comfort, for your eyes, neck, and back. You can play games, watch movies, edit photos, and read documents for a prolonged time.

Samsung U28E590D gives you an all-around more comfortable viewing experience, without worrying about eye strain or fatigue.

What We Don’t Like About Samsung U28E590D Monitor

To get the full performance of 3840 X 2160 at 60 Hz, the HDMI cable has to be connected to HDMI port 2. HDMI port 1 only supports 30 Hz. This isn’t clear from the manual.

Samsung U28E590D has a limited viewing angle which might affect your posture over a prolonged period. The angle range, compounded by what appears to be a thin and weak stand, seems to affect the screen’s balance and is prone to falling over.

PROS

  • AMD Freesync links right up to your gaming computer through the DisplayPort to give everything possible in 4k.
  • The picture is great and it’s a nice size
  • Tweaking the picture settings instead of leaving it to factory settings gives you more options and better picture quality, tailored to your setup and needs
  • Very dependable, with good color and graphics

CONS

  • When sitting square onto the monitor, a white background will be cool and blue in the middle, and warm and red at the edges, not helping your eyes
  • The viewing angles are extremely bad due to the TN monitor. Find something that uses IPS instead
  • The monitor emits a very high pitch sound which could contribute to headaches

2. Viewsonic VX2457-MHD Monitor

Product Highlights

Viewsonic VX2457-MHD is a 24-inch monitor with eye protection central to its development.
Blue Light Filter and Flicker-Free technology have been integrated to protect your eyes over extended use of the screen.

It has a 75 Hz refresh time so if you’re gaming, you might get screen tearing or visual stutters, but by implementing FreeSync for use with an AMD Graphics Processing Unit your monitor’s refresh rate is locked to the frames per second of whichever game you are playing. This helps the strain on your eyes.

A 2millisecond response time further improves your gaming, and you shouldn’t experience any delay at all to what is displayed on the monitor.

Viewsonic VX2457-MHD is a fantastic option for eye-care protection, particularly for the price. Because of this, it’s a popular choice.

Features

  • Screen Size: 24”
  • Resolution: FHD 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Refresh Rate: 75 hertz
  • Response Time: 2ms
  • Connectivity: HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA
  • Eye Care Features: Flicker-Free, Blue Light Filter, Tilt

What We Like About Viewsonic VX2457-MHD Monitor

Its 1920 x 1080 resolution is supported with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a flat LCD monitor with a TN panel type.

The VESA Adaptive-Sync with AMD FreeSync technologies synchronizes the frame rate output between your graphics card and monitor. This dynamic refresh rate eliminates image tearing, stuttering, and jerkiness for smooth gameplay.

With an ultra-fast 2ms response time, you’ll get smoother images without streaking, blurring, or ghosting. And you can customize visibility to your comfort and liking with Black Stabilization, heightening and brightening dark scenes.

Viewsonic VX2457-MHD delivers a consistent on-screen visual experience, both dynamically and by the flexibility of customization, that will suit your eye-care needs.

What We Don’t Like About Viewsonic VX2457-MHD Monitor

While its gaming performance is impressive, it’s not so good for photography or graphic design tasks, especially at a professional level. The TN panel type holds it back from having a high degree of color accuracy or contrast. You’re much better going for another option if you work in these fields, for the sake of your eyes as well as your work.

Also being a TN monitor, it has a narrower viewing angle which might affect your comfort.

The Viewsonic VX2457-MHD appears to have quality control and uniformity issues too. Previous customers and reviewers have complained of receiving faulty models. With those who have bought more than one, reporting slightly different tints, causing annoyance and distraction.

PROS

  • The setup was extremely easy
  • When running Fallout 4, it’s like a brand new game. Especially during the night when the Black Stabilization kicks in and you can see into the shadows far better than we’d been able to before
  • With this monitor, screen tearing is a thing of the past
  • Freesync enabled games are smooth. Films and Videos are gorgeous and tear-free. Text is crisp and easily readable

CONS

  • You can’t adjust the color or brightness or contrast or any display options
  • Selecting features is not at all convenient, since its buttons are behind the monitor
  • The OSD changes when out of the menu

3. BenQ GW2765HT Eye Care Monitor

Product Highlights

BenQ specifically markets its products for its Eye Care Technology. For this reason, their monitors are amongst the very best in the category.

BenQ GW2765HT is a 27-inch monitor that makes eye care a priority in their product. What is more, it’s designed and built with great precision, to deliver on its brief of reducing eye fatigue.

Suitable for home and office use, it comes with flicker protection and Low Blue Light Technology filter for blue light.

It also features a WQHD panel of 109 pixels per inch, making images and videos more beautiful, for the best visual pleasure.

With a 60 Hz refresh that will support gaming, though at a lower quality than a dedicated gaming monitor. Its 6millisecond response time may prove to be too slow.

BenQ GW2765HT is one of the best monitors for reducing eye strain available at a reasonable price.

Features

  • Screen Size: 27”
  • Resolution: QHD Wide 2560 x 1440 pixels
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Refresh Rate: 60 hertz
  • Response Time: 6ms
  • Connectivity: HDMI, DVI-DL, D-Sub, DisplayPort
  • Eye Care Features: Low Blue Light, ZeroFlicker, Height Adjustment

What We Like About BenQ GW2765HT Eye Care Monitor

When it comes to connectivity, this monitor has a lot of options. HDMI, Display, DVI-D, and VGA ports give you plenty of flexibility.

You can also choose from a variety of modes: Eco, Reading, sRGB, Photo, Movie, Game, and Standard.

BenQ GW2765HT doesn’t neglect audio quality, with built-in speakers.

What We Don’t Like About BenQ GW2765HT Eye Care Monitor

The 6 ms response time, as well as slow for gaming, might cause eye tiredness and eventually strain, having to process the delay.

BenQ GW2765HT, for all of its connectivity options, strangely has no USB ports.

PROS

  • The high pixel density and perfect color reproduction
  • It gives amazingly bright and deep colors, especially in the blacks
  • It’s a very good 27” monitor with IPS at a nice price
  • Excellent clarity, contrast, and color

CONS

  • It has issues switching between inputs
  • When disconnecting and reconnecting, you have to plug it in about many times before the monitor recognizes the cable. This is a known error
  • Adjusting the brightness requires navigating deep into menus

4. ASUS Designo MZ27AQ Monitor

Product Highlights

ASUS MZ27AQ is a typically beautiful-looking monitor in the award-winning Designo series, which has set a new benchmark in how monitors should look.

The frameless curved design of this 27” ultra-wide monitor with a 178-degree viewing angle, is quite simply beautiful.

But it is not all just about the looks that make it a good option as one of the best monitors for eyes. It’s also about how you look at it.

It comes with ASUS TUV certified eye care Flicker-Free technology, as well as an ultra-low blue light.

ASUS Designo MZ27AQ blends aesthetic as well as visual quality, with eye-care protection and comfort, for an overall winning monitor.

Features

  • Screen Size: 27”
  • Resolution: QHD Wide 2560 x 1440 pixels
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Refresh Rate: 60 hertz
  • Response Time: 5ms
  • Connectivity: HDMI, DisplayPort
  • Eye Care Features: TUV certified Flicker Free, Ultra-Low Blue Light

What We Like About ASUS Designo MZ27AQ Monitor

ASUS Flicker-Free technology reduces flicker, for a comfortable viewing experience. Its backlighting minimizes the occurrence of eyestrain and other damage, especially over prolonged use. Other TUV Rheinland certified Eye Care technology featured, is an efficient filter minimizing and lowering blue light.

Along with these essential eye care features, Quad HD 2560 x 1440 resolution gives amazing visuals.

Not only that, but its sound quality proved to be very good. ASUS Sonic Master delivers an immersive audio experience. Dual 6W speakers and 5W subwoofer provide 2.1 channel audio, developed in collaboration with the renowned Harmon Kardon brand.

ASUS Designo MZ27AQ also offers a number of connectivity options, and an industry-leading 3 years limited warranty, including rapid replacement.

What We Don’t Like About ASUS Designo MZ27AQ Monitor

User-friendliness may have been sacrificed for design, in that all controls operate off of a single small toggle button on the back of the screen. This makes adjustments, such as for volume, very awkward.

That decent warranty might come in handy, as previous users have questioned the ASUS quality control, in noting a line down the middle of the screen.

PROS

  • Solid and ‘on point’ colors
  • Clarity is amazing and hits the ‘sweet spot’ between 1080 and 4k perfectly
  • No noticeable ghosting. As good as any other 60 Hz IPS
  • Couldn’t detect any dead or stuck pixels

CONS

  • The picture quality isn’t spectacular
  • Switching inputs is difficult by the single, small ‘hidden’ button
  • Text is so blurry

5. BenQ GW2480 Monitor

Product Highlights

BenQ GW2480 is one of the most affordable monitors currently on the market, with the most eye care technology features, offering low blue light filter and flicker-free technology.

It also comes with an ambient light sensor. This feature senses the ambient light of your surrounding environment, and then accordingly adjusts the brightness and warmth of the screen. Using a bright screen in a dimly lit room can seriously harm your eyes, so this feature is especially essential for those suffering from chronic eye fatigue.

BenQ GW2480 also looks stunning with an edge to edge slim bezel design. It has an IPS panel, which provides much better colors compared to TN or VA panel monitors. Together with its thin bezels, this monitor is no exception, giving rich colors.

The whole device is like a liquid crystal display. Marketed for everyday home office use, and if you’re concerned for your eye care and on a budget, this could well be the best computer monitor for eyes.

Features

  • Screen Size: 24”
  • Resolution: FHD IPS 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Refresh Rate: 60 hertz
  • Response Time: 5ms
  • Connectivity: HDMI, DisplayPort, D-Sub
  • Eye Care Features: Flicker-Free, Low Blue Light, Ambient Light Sensor, VESA Compatible

What We Like About BenQ GW2480 Monitor

Its IPS panel displays on a 24” screen in high definition, 1920 x 1080pixel resolution. The view from all different angles is clear and crisp.

It has several technologies for eye protection of your eyes while using. There’s a blue light filter, zero flicker technology, and also Eye Tech. It gives off images that are clear, but not too sharp, helping to prevent headaches and eye strain in many individual users.

But what makes this monitor stand out from the competition, is the last technology for eye care in the form of its proprietary brightness adaptive intelligence.

Sensors installed in the monitor detect the brightness of the external environment of the room or space where it is placed. The device then automatically adjusts the brightness level and contrast of the display accordingly.

BenQ GW2480 has a neat cable management system at the back of the device, in the stand. The monitor is compatible with a 100 x 100mm VESA mount, by 100 x 100 mm.

What We Don’t Like About BenQ GW2480 Monitor

For all of its beneficial features, we did find a few things that we think could be improved.

It has somewhat connectivity options, with no USB or Thunderbolt of any kind, so you might need to use an additional adapter or dongle.

Also, as BenQ GW2480 is designed and built for regular home office use rather than creative tasks, and so not really suitable for photo editing.

PROS

  • The setup was so simple
  • Provides great viewing from any angle
  • This thin bezel wide-angle screen looks super-smart in your home office
  • Very kind on your eyes

CONS

  • The colors aren’t quite sharp enough for photography work
  • No sync capabilities. Not great futureproofing

6. LG 32MA70HY-P Monitor

Product Highlights

LG 32MA70HY-P is a massive 32-inch monitor designed for those that work with a lot of text. It’s a 16:9 aspect ratio flat LED display with IPS panel for 1920 x 1080pixel resolution.

The 32” screen provides more than 70% more viewable area compared to a 16:9 aspect 24” monitor. The Full HD clarity and color reproduction of the IPS panel enhance every project, even when viewed off-angle.

LG 32MA70HY-P has a 60 Hz refresh rate and a relatively slow response time of 5 milliseconds, emphasizing that its a monitor designed for work rather than play.

Features

  • Screen Size: 32”
  • Resolution: FHD IPS 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Refresh Rate: 60 hertz
  • Response Time: 5ms
  • Connectivity: HDMI, DisplayPort, D-Sub
  • Eye Care Features: Reader Mode, VESA Compatible

What We Like About LG 32MA70HY-P Monitor

It is developed for people that work with a large amount of text, featuring LG’s proprietary low blue light Reader Mode to reduce blue light emissions. This works similar to the comfortability view on an android phone for reading.

Its work focus is enhanced LG’s great On-Screen Control to ease the use of multiple settings. Even more impressively, tasking with multiple windows is super-efficient with Screen Split 2.0, and an incredible 14 PiP options.

This allows you to easily customize and resize the layout of your monitor, its dynamic action sync feature gives you a smooth and fluid experience.

LG 32MA70HY-P is compatible with a VESA wall mount 7.9” x 3.9”, for your further viewing comfort.

What We Don’t Like About LG 32MA70HY-P Monitor

With no direct USB or USB-C connectivity, the clarity was poor when connected to a MacBook via using a USB-C connector. Pixels were very fuzzy to the point that it was hard to view and concentrate. This compromises the eye-care protection benefits. We would not recommend LG 32MA70HY-P if you’re planning on using it with a Mac.

With its thick bezel, it’s not the most attractive monitor on our list.

PROS

  • The color and clarity are excellent
  • It’s energy-efficient and uses about 30 watts, less than that of an average 22”, lower-resolution LED monitor
  • A great solution to see multiple apps simultaneously
  • Good budget large screen option

CONS

  • There is no audio adjust in the difficult to reach and adjust finger-stick-control joystick
  • Had to disable the energy-saving feature to turn the resolution up from low to the highest quality and best brightness quality
  • It has compatibility issues with Mac iOS

What We Don’t Like About ASUS VP28UQG Monitor

The 60 Hz refresh rate is low but should be sufficient for anything you might want to do with your computer including high-end gaming, except at its pinnacle. If you want to game at a competitive level, then you’ll want and need a higher refresh rate than this monitor can provide.

Also, previous owners have reported compatibility issues with Xbox One X. If you use that console, then this won’t be the monitor for you.

ASUS VP28UQG is a bit lacking in terms of design, with its thick bezel, and adjustability options.
